Very similar to previous bottle 7 years ago, cork crumbled, decanted, dark color, full body, incredible balance with smooth tannins on finish, thicker than many Nebbiolos, drank with sausage pizza, slight bouquet, good complexity, if this is what age can do then it was worth the wait, last bottle.

Color: dark ruby with light brown edge. Viscous legs Nose: medium-full. Complex dark fruits; spicy; black pepper; wood Body/flavor: full body. Complex flavor of dark dried fruits. Evolved in the glass... new surprises with every sip. Well balanced acid and tannins Aftertaste: lingering...
Almost no sediment! Terrific bottle... has time, perhaps another 4 - 6 years!

Darker than your average aged Barbaresco. Lots of sediment on the bottle side. Concentration of fruit and balance is amazing. Bottle was mildly flawed with band aid Brett, but the quality of wine made up for it.

(MONTERSINO Abrigo) Barbaresco Dear Friends, This is an impressive two-step from Abrigo, especially the 2007 – for my taste the finest wine he’s ever produced. The 2007 vintage continues to impress in the environs of Alba with its combination of massive fruit, minerality and a boisterous, seductive personality that spills bodacious Nebbiolo across the taster’s palate. While many wines appear modern in expression, they somehow combine the best of all worlds. Purists may be dismayed by the rainbow-bright fruit but make no mistake, 1997 or 2000 this isn’t. The acidity, structure and overall balance of the best wines gives them more of an 1989 meets 1990 style – similar to 2010 in Bordeaux. For this classicist, the wines are tough to ignore and they should age for a very long time (unlike 2000). For an interesting comparison, we also have Abrigo’s 2004 Montersino from the exact same parcel of vines. 2004 is considered more of a traditional vintage and the wine has aged in a spectacular fashion (I consumed my last bottle on Saturday night). It represents outstanding value for the genre and the wine is only getting better.
