  • The bottle, stored in ideal conditions since release, was in perfect condition. The wine was medium garnet in colour and offered red fruit, red cherry, rose petal, earthy notes and tobacco on the nose and palate, complemented by mild herbal, mineral and balsamic notes, with great acidity, partly resolved tannin and very good length. The medium-bodied wine had average complexity, but good balance, and was much more youthful than expected. It developed at a glacial pace and became more complex and interesting and drank best on day three. So much for Barbarescos generally aging more quickly than Barolos. I would love to try another bottle in ten years... (91)

  • Soapy (soap) nose. Couldn't get my head off that aroma.

  • This Barbaresco is still young, if you can call an almost 30 y. o. wine. I have the idea that Barbarescos are supposed to be more early drinking, this wine completely changed my perception of Barolo and Barbaresco.
It took 5 hours of double decanting. Barely brown. Still quite dark for a nebbiolo.
Before I opened it I was so afraid that it would be over the hill.
We start drinking at about 1 1/2 hrs after decanting and it was already starting to offer really nice nose, which I thought would have been ample time, it became so much more perfumed at 5 hours.
This wine was purchased at the chateau 3 months ago.

  • WINE TO MAGIC; 11/25/2014-11/30/2014 (TORINO - PALAZZO CARIGNANO): Uva passa e grappa all' amarena, fiori appassiti, noce moscata e legno di cedro.
Al palato gioca su terziarizzazione amara, porcini e resina di pino.
Anche l' acidità ha toni amari di legno e radici.
Vino strano, con poche frecce al suo arco.
