Still a very youthful colour. Expressive nose at first of cherry fruit and earth. Good approachable fruit on first encounter. Light tannin but great structure. No longer primary but still young fruit. After an hour it shuts down a bit. Less expressive. Needs more time. A useful test of a decent village 05. On this showing they probably still need 8-10 years yet.

A nice burgundy. The color is light red. There was minimal bouquet. The fruit and oak were in nice balance. There is nothing unique about this wine, it is just a good example of this type of wine. It was pleasant and easy to drink

Dark, bright and clear. Sappy, creaminess, some fruit. Youthful. Good attack, tannins remarkably tame. Touch of fruit. Good length and persistence. Opened up somewhat over the evening, and will hopefully become a rather decent village burgundy. VG

I haven't even taken delivery of 90% of my '05 Burgundies yet, so I have no business opening this one. But they are going to be so good. I gave this an hour of air, most likely 2 or 3 would have been closer to the mark. Nose is pure red fruits, palate is lean, tart red cherries. Acid? Check. Minerals? Check. Sous Bois? Not yet, hang in there a few years. An enjoyable food wine right now, a real treat in 5.
I'm definitely going to buy more '05 Villages to protect their big brothers.

Initially small nose with hints of manure, grass and red currants. Opens up slowly, best overnight (recommended). Typical for the house: really fine pinot spice, strawberry, minerals, stone and some wet wool. Slender on the palate with red currants and strawberries, marked acidity, some grass and herbs and a lighter texture (than the 2005 Domaine Joblot 1er Crus we had yesterday). Lean and refreshing character. Very good, not a must have, but will improve to a well defined spicyness in the cellar, especially if you're into lighter red burgundy. Try with fried sole and mushrooms.
