Deep ruby purple Huge petrol(?) black pepper and cacao nose Ripe fleshy blackberry and cacao flavors Interesting and unexpected flavors. A bit atypical but tasty

Brought to a friend for evening glass of wine and cheese and conversation. Not impressed. Thin and lackluster. Not bad just blah! Expected more from this close cousin to Cabernet Sauvignon. One and done

Further to my Note of May 5 '21: This is #2 shared with friends BYOB inside a local bistro. Generally consistent notes, though it seemed oddly off-dry this time and less interesting. Given the grape and the value, it's worth another try to tighten my impression.

Bought 2b for 11/b from the local Total; this is #1. Dark purple; big tart fruit nose, some steeliness, some oak; rich, dark fruit with that metallic hint, very good mouthfeel. Very tasty but not like the lean French CFs: in that sense, lacks typicity (but I like it for what it is). Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation (see earlier posts for my 4-category, non-point rating system): This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.
