Compared to last time about two years ago rather different (different not so perfect storage as well). Quite a lot of barnyard, acid, hints of old oak, some aging effects, lean and not too subtle cherry flavours, overall warm and not so complicated character and contenting length. I guess it is getting old (or at least this bottle). On the second day a bit better, but not significantly.

A fresh and fruitful HCdN. Has a certain body and density as well. Loads of light red berries and a hint of too much oak. Not too "classical". Nice treat.

Quite dense for an entry-level bottling, with spice, red fruit, and cinammon on the nose. The palate features some upfront cranberry with a reasonably long dark red fruit finish. Most distinctive feature was the oakiness which became more of a distraction over time and would definitely bother those sensitive to overoaking - the grapes just can't stand up to it. Nevertheless, the oak seemed to add a touch of class to the wine, especially at first. For a $20 end of bin sale, this is a buy, but for the original price, probably = pass.

(Bertagna Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Les Dames Huguettes) Medium, medium-plus cherry red. Frankly I don’t like the nose - it’s quite forward, but it’s mainly the bubble-gum notes of a less than satisfying Beaujolais. In the mouth the acidity is quite bright and the flavours are metallic. As it stands, it’s a big NO! I have to give it a chance, so most waits for day 2: Another day and the bubble-gum is on a slightly lower order, but aromatically the wine is far from interesting. Perhaps not so metallic tasting, but the acidity remains very tart - I don’t mind high acidity, but this is tart high acidity. If represenative (and why shouldn’t it be?) a startling failure for the vintage.

Nice nose of barnyard and cherry. Good acidity.
