Bit of oak on the nose, but nice fruit components - I would NEVER guess this a Sangiovese, however. More like a light Central Coast Syrah, or young vined Zinfandel. An interesting herbal thing going on as well. On the palate, it is a rather hefty feel, big for Sangiovese to be sure. Dark fruits with baking spices, more herbs, some qualities that are reminiscent of a big SRH Pinot Noir as well. Finish is surprisingly long and pleasant - no tannic structure to speak of, however, so I'd take these down in the short term. This wine is good, I just can't pinpoint WHAT it is...

Staff Tasting (Waterford Wines Milwaukee): so undici is 'eleven' in italian, and as far as this bottling is concerned, a spinal tapian reference. i like this wine on the that alone. a nose of funk and fruit. a touch of salty tomato. more meaty that i expect from sangiovese, i guess this points to it's domestic upbringing. smokey finish. blind, i'd be hard pressed to say this was sangiovese.

Pie cherry notes and some tobacco on opening, needed several hours to show off it's dark more complex side, dark stone fruit, anise and red licorice. Very good, will purchase again for pairing with an osso bucho.

Very similar notes to previous bottle. Enjoyed at the JTT Christmas party.

It goes to 11. It is a Spinal Tap reference. Herbs and evergreen. Nice mid palate. Tastey. Over priced at $38 to me.
