  • My second time tasting this wine and no different than the first. The 2018 Cabreo needs time. On day one the wine was tight as a rock. On day two it opened up substantially. It drank very smoothly on day three as well. I would hold another five years before retasting. Is it worth $50 a bottle? Si! Si!

  • 1 hour decant. 60 F. Very Tuscan in nature. Probably drinking this a bit too young, I will try to hold off on the next bottle for a few years. Black cherry fruit on the nose, with notes of tobacco, iron, blueberry and wet leather. Fairly full-bodied, pleasant acidity, silky-to-velvety tannins and well-integrated alcohol and oak. Cranberry, plum and minerals on the palate. Wine continued to improve the entire time we were drinking it. Long savory finish.

  • I purchased three bottles of Cabreo recently. 2016, 2017, and 2018. I drank the 2016 recently, and I popped open the 2018 the other night. My first impression wasn't very good. The wine was a bit tough and somewhat earthy. On evening two the wine began to shine. The fruit emerged and the tannin's calmed down. On evening three the wine exhibited an almost jammy aroma. This is a candidate for the cellar, and I plan to purchase more.

  • Very surprising wine for me in terms of quality and drinkability at this early stage. Purple/red in the glass this is a more modern style of iTalian wine in terms of being full bodied with wood notes but the wine has a tremendous amount of freshness with the fruit but still exudes a nose of iron and minerals. Really well balanced with a long smooth finish. Not sure how this improves with age but don’t care as it is drinking great now with 1 hour aeration/decant.

  • 30% Cabernet the rest Sangiovese. 1986 was the first vintage. But also smells truly Tuscan as well. Punchy black fruits.
