We drank it to a pasta with garlic, mushrooms, cream, onions and veal. Double decanted an hour before consumption. Clearly tannic upon opening. Opening up after the double decant, as usual. The nose was a bit shy, but some floral notes and tea leaves could be picked up. The taste was quite good, but too short and a bit weak. Notes of rose hip, violet, tea and perhaps licorice with a salty touch could be found. The taste was a good pairing with the food, but we missed some power and depth. It is a low cost Barolo and considering the price this is probably a quite ok wine.
Stored in the fridge for two days until we finished it with a Pasta Bolognese. It had developed more notes of dark chocolate and perhaps some coffee notes over the two days. It was almost good enough to merit an upgrade. Definitely worth the price on day three.
