Rather interesting with ripe grapey fruit that borders of blacks—but tightens up with air. As the fruit tightens develops as airily flint quality with some earth notes. Palate has some fine dusty tannins that persist on the finish. Quite interesting, but not harmonious at this stage.

Deep ruby colour. Expressive nose of crisp raspberries, and darker plums. Freshly washed linen and some earthy mushroom type note, wet leaves on the forest floor. The palate is ripe, yet fresh, with a generous amount of raspberries and darker fruit too in the backdrop (plums, black cherries). I really need to emphasise how detailed this wine is. There is also a really interesting earthy/mineral element to this wine that is present in the form of some mushroomy salinity, which is engaging but doesn't feel fully fleshed out at this moment. A bit of wood influence at play but works really well here. The acidity feels high but is in such good balance with the fruit. Tannins are slightly grippy at this stage. Length is quite long here, with a really pleasant aftertaste. Stunner wine! Very approachable now, but I'd love another bottle to cellar for years to come.

Smells good - pungent, spicy, mushroomy/funky, dark-reddish fruit, with some oak presence but it works. Similar on the palate, with the fruit towards black cherry but fresh and juicy, ripe but not overripe; mushrooms, and again some wood is noticeable but not at all overboard (reportedly no new oak). Good acidity. Fine, supple tannins. Offers some depth and interest. Nice generous tasty fruit, but with plenty else going on too and everything works; cohesive, characterful, enjoyable wine.

Competently made, but too sweet for a red Burgundy.
