  • Fruit day, served with dry-aged steak and roasted vegetables. 1hr decant.

Nose: White pepper, clove, black olive and meaty, this nose is wonderfully savoury with a subtle hint of blackberry in the background.
Palate: Slightly juicer on the palate with blueberry on the front followed by olive stem, clove, and bitter espresso grounds (DF1962 spot on there). After tasting I definitely get more violet here too, both on nose and palate.

Overall I'm absolutely a fan of this one, especially at the price. Though I'll admit it leaves you wanting just a tad more complexity, it's a wonderful expression of Syrah and is in brilliant balance, with soft but lively tannins and definitely suggests further development is possible (and likely).

91 points with potential for 1...maybe 2 points more. Great Crozes here!

  • Nice expression of Syrah showcasing the appellation well. Classic savory notes mingle with dark fruits and a pepper finish. Drink now and over the next 5 years
