Expressive nose of black cherries married to a petting zoo: plenty of barnyard funk, which is a reported signature of Sokol Blosser and one reason to try the wine. I also picture a decomposing goat resting in peace on the side of a dusty country road. The savory palate was less fruit-forward than I expected given the age, but that's not necessarily a negative. Although the fruit was thin, the earthy flavors, which were quite robust, stepped in to assist. Tannins were well Integrated. Oak was appropriate and not overpowering given the 17 months of French oak barrel aging. Finish was weak powered, but at a decent length. Unfortunately another example of how my score of 88 fits in with the "Suckling minus 5" meme. *Sokol Blosser is a 2nd generation venture founded in 1971; currently run by siblings: Alison and Alex (Winemaker since 2012). *Pinot Noir completely replanted in late 90's because of Phylloxera. *Appears to be enclosed with Diam 3.
Medium red. Rich black cherry, spice and cassis nose. Dry rich black fruit with a slightly oaky finish. Will improve. Not elegant but should improve a bit.

Clear light red. Nice spicy red cherry nose. Dry red cherry and spice flavours and a nice dry graphite finish.
Really delicious.
