Opened and decanted three hours apprx. before serving. Cork broke in half when pulling it out, although no remains made it inside the bottle.
First note, before decanting: Tight, structured, hints of red berries, pepper, anis, citrus. Primary as hell right now, yet singing with potential.
After decanting - aroma: Lots of herbal, fruit forward notes. Liquorice, spices, multi-dimensional aromas.
After decanting - palate: Wow, this is nowhere near mature, but it has exited its sleeping window and is absolutely rewarding to drink right now, but require at least a few hours of aeration, if not a whole day/overnight. Paired it with grilled beef tenderloin, a great combination. Will easily improve and mature further for the next decade or two.

Tasted after it had been opened overnight and this was singing. Crisp raspberry and cherry, tart acidity, dusty tannins, savory, floral complexities. Really expressive. I

2016 Brunello Masterclass with Manuela Carta (Zoom, Chicago, IL): Nose: The nose shows a richer and introverted side with sour red cherries, raspberries, plums, crushed flowers, asian spices, roasted herbs, licorice, rose petals, and mineral notes. This is showing a bit on the tight side even with some air.
Taste: The feel is Full bodied with crisp, medium+ acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins. There is a bit of warmth from the alcohol on the back end and it detracts a slight bit. The feel is quite poised and balanced though with sour red cherries, raspberries, plums, rose petals, asian spices, licorice, and mineral notes.
Overall: This is painfully young right now. It shows off a lot of class and the depth is there, but this just isn't fully expressive at the moment though I am fairly sure with at least 5+ years that this will be gorgeous.
