  Medium ruby. Decanted for about 45 minutes. A primary, creamy and decidedly fresh nose offers aromas of just ripe black currants, black cherries, fresh herbs, loamy earth and a whiff of oak spice. Just medium bodied on the palate - the elevated alcohol is completely buried here - with medium+ acidity, this is flat out delicious with a touch of chewy tannin framing fresh fruit and savory flavors that are bright and lively without seeming either over-concentrated or underripe. This is convincingly good.

  Friday night blind tasting with family and pizza.
  
  4 bottles:
  2018 Wine Access Wolf Grade (suspected to be from Diamond Mountain Reverie vineyard)
  2018 Cornell Courtship
  2018 Lerner Project 18
  2019 Hillside Cabernet (WTSO wine purchase).
  
  Unfortunately, this was gave off a bit disjointed, a bit thin on the palate and the finish. More strawberry chewiness. I was a bit surprised to see this one be one of my least favorites. Maybe in a funky place? Regardless, I have 4 left to wait on and will be a buyer of the 2019s given the QPR in my mind.

  Welcome to the perilous and often disappointing world of CA Cabernet priced at two digits! Most of my stalwarts of years past (e.g., Bard, Prince of Hearts, La Jota) have migrated to the $120+ category, but there are still a happy few that over-deliver for the price (e.g., all things Di Costanzo, Forman Grand Grand Roche, Ontogeny). To this band of brothers, add the Courtship, for its purity, class, balance, and flat-out deliciousness.
  
  Ruby red in color and medium in body, the wine offers evocative aromas of blackberry, crushed granite, bay leaf, tapenade, and trial dust. The flavors are savory but more forward, with notes of black cherry, cocoa powder, eucalyptus, and anise, with a grainy and integrated finish. The balance is impeccable, and the flavors are nuanced - what more can I ask for at $90? (Yes, maybe an oil change or a pair of shoes - but in CA vinous terms this is a bargain.) Blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec. 14.5% alcohol. 93-94 at the moment (so drink now without worry), but it should be better in a year or two.

  One hour slow ox. Very deep magenta color. Sautéed raspberry and blackberry on the nose (in a good way, nothing like ‘17). Smooth, dry palate, with good acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. This is not a major step down from the flagship, making it a solid value (for high end Napa Cab).
