Champagne - BYO blind: Red berries, sweet caramel, ripe red apples on a warm autum day. Quite sweet and plush, very good in its own right, but doesn't have the class of a good champagne.

Good *pop* on opening; bubbles still fairly numerous. Medium gold colour. Nose and palate showing bruised apples, yeasty/toasted breads, but oxidative notes a bit too dominant. Low end of Brut, nice acidity, great length and complexity. Past its prime for my taste but others were not disturbed by the oxidation and felt it gave the wine more character.

Annual Pilgrimage to Piedmont - 2015 Edition; 10/9/2015-10/11/2015 (Piedmont, Italy): Was highly praised by the sommelier of the Ciau Del Tornavento so we gave it a go. Unfortunately it was not as impressive as promised, a good wine still but not impressive. Well round , well evolved and definitely a few summers since it peaked. 88

Gala Dinner at Antonio Galloni's La Festa del Barolo (Four Seasons Restaurant, NYC): Magnum brought by Todd. Hard to judge. Seems out of place in this sequence. Not rated. I think I would have liked it quite a bit earlier.
