This wine was a gift. So I grilled a steak and popped it.
Nose: macerated blackberry & black cherry. Decent nose.
Taste: first ripe black fruit; mid-palate soft mouth-feel typical of Grenache but thin--not typical of a high quality Grenache; finish is short for a red wine. The wine is fairly balanced but could have better integration of the fruit and tannins.
It didn't pair well with the grilled steak because it was too fruity and didn't have enough body and tannins to stand up to the steak. btw, the back label of the wine reads: "ideal with grilled meats." :-)
Overall: this is a simple wine suited for someone who just wants to drink a red wine--nothing special or distinctive. Would not recommend or buy again. Pass.

This wine has a relatively short window where it matches up with my tastes. At first it was pretty tight. After about 20 minutes in the bottle and glass the palate had opened up to nice silky tart cherries. Within another twenty minutes the finish started turning to a more chemical tone. Shortly after that the cherries have disappeared from the palate and all that's left is an extremely thin watery cherry candy flavor on the finish with a touch of acid.

A good cheap wine that is simple and smooth. Dry Spanish flavor. Everything you'd realistically hope for a $6 wine.
