  • Maya presented (18-20 DVO) to a small group while in Houston for the Southern Smoke Foundation.

Of the mini vertical I gravitated to 18 for it's tension and 19 due to it's approachability. 20 was an easy drinker but overshowed in the lineup.

Maya walked us through her story and how DVO "DUO" came to be a project and some of the vineyards the fruit is sourced from.

Scoring this wine as it is today but there is no doubt this wine is built for the cellar and will no doubt score higher in the future.

Grosses Cabernet-Kino! Ab jetzt bis 2045, 98 vvPunkte

  • Undrinkable upon opening, but for all the right reasons. Decanted for an hour and a half, and it opened up nicely. It was still tight, but it held up great to the lamb chops. Over the course of the evening, continued to fascinate and delight, lots of dark, dark fruit, cocoa, graphite, and plenty of acid.

  • Have to start somewhere…decanted
Completely closed on opening with just a mere hint of the wine at 90 minutes.
At 3 hours, the nose is starting to reveal its aromatics. The body is tight, coiled, balanced and long finishing despite barely being open.
Continued to unfurl for the first 6 hours and then plateau’d. The last was enjoyed at hour 8.
Fantastic wine and many more decades to go!
