  The wine looks crimson colored. It smells like cherry and herbs. The wine finishes medium.

  At my local wine shop, I once hear a staffer call Mencia the "Beaujolais of Spain". I had one a while back and don't remember liking it, even though I love Cru Beaujolais with a fierce passion. That said, I figured I'd give it another go with this cuvee. Loved this - Like a cross between a fruit forward Crozes-Hermitage and a Julienas. Nose had a spicy yeast note with an undercurrent of black cherry and blackberries. Palate basically confirmed all of that. Light, spicy, and rounded out with nice dark fruits and no oak. Will rebuy for sure.

  Intense strawberry yoghurt (a petit danone) and sweet baking spices. Med+ acidity, med+ tannins, firm body and structure. A bit bitter w. dark fruited notes. Seems overdone.
