I don't have much experience with Mencía but this was a great place to start. The most obvious note at the start was intense black pepper and dark minerality. The fruit was on the darker side of the spectrum, like blackberry or blueberry. It's starting to show its age with hints of soy sauce.
What a fun bottle for under $30. This punches way above its price point for sure. This is a must-try for anyone who's a fan of other highly aromatic and light to medium bodied reds.
