  • Organic wine from vines planted in 1965 (lieu-dit La Motelle). LR020. 24 hours of maceration. The vins clairs were then vinified and aged in oak barrels on their lees for 11 months prior to bottling for the second fermentation. Native yeasts, unfiltered & unfined. 6938 bottles were produced.
The nose is initially super fruity but quickly opens up to reveal a lot more complexity (in other words: my suggestion is to be patient and not drink this down immediately after serving). On the palate, it is mouth-filling (and mouth-watering) but doesn't weigh too heavily or overly saturate one's taste buds. That being said, I do believe that this release would benefit from at least another couple of years in the bottle prior to ideal consumption as it does feel like it has a lot more to give.

  • Casa del Vino, Gangnam, Seul. This looks like Lambrusco!!! No pale rose or copper colour. Red with some darker hues. Initial whiff suggested strawberry and other red fruits in a candied package. Not my favourite flavour profile. Warming and airing put everything back in place with the yeasty character taking center stage and palate depth that matches Brochet s Mont Benoit. Texturally very similar except from brawnier apsect of the fruit on the finish. Glad I have some in the cellar. Better with food as the dosage is low. Awesome match with the sea-urchin linguine we orderer. Better for tasters who have already cut their teeth on a good cross section of grower styles.

  • Dinner at Asador Bastian (Chicago, IL): From a bottle with two years of bottle age. I liked this way more than the previous one I had which felt green and thin to me. This has gotten far more weight and the meunier mushroom and red fruit show very prominently. If anything this reminds me a bit of the Eyrie, but with bubbles. Nice breadth on the palate; perhaps the little bit of time has helped this fill out.

  • Decanted. Mineral, chalky, light apple cider, orange flowers, super spicy, lightly grassy. Lightly sweet but so aromatic. 93

  • Nose: raspberry, steel, cherry, gamey, bubble gum
Notes: 100% Pinot Meunier and with based wines from 2018 harvest. Supposedly a Negoce cuvee with total production of 3400 bottles. The wine started by showing a somewhat bitter and cider like palate with a nose full of wild berry aromas. Slowly that evolved into plenty of red fruits with cherry and a bit of a gamey touch. The intensity and complexity of the wine is indeed piercing and prominent, it shows excellent minerality while the combination of all the aroma together was quite astonishing. I have, and probably will continue to be a fan of this wonderful maker of brilliant Champagne. Still very young and energetic right now, of course another couple of years of patience should be welcomed for better results.
