Community Tasting Notes (4)

  • No notes on this wine so I might as well leave one for posterity. Purchased 8 bottles almost a decade ago, this is the last bottle for which I paid $5.

A few bottles were dead, but this one is still in quite good shape. Cork was soaked and slid out easily but the wine is solid and typically correct, still showing plenty of sugars delivering pear and yellow fruit with a bit of soapy overtones. Lacks some of the complexity of a Baumard but very drinkable and this last bottle exceeded my expectations.

  • My last of 4 bottles. Pretty much the same tasting note as a year ago... nice on night one, pretty faded by day 3. Since the price of entry was so low I would say these were a nice experiment.

  • Over three nights, this was far better than the first bottle. Sugars have subsided somewhat, leaving a medium gold wine with honey and some dark exotic spice notes. Medium length finish that was much cleaner and no soap notes. Nice but not amazing.

  • Picked up a few of these in a recent auction. Opened one right away to see where they are at. Cork was fully soaked and very loose, some leakage obvious under the capsule. Initial nose of sherry had me pretty concerned. Initial tastes were quite hollow, so I decided to give it some air. Eventually we coaxed a bit more out of this deep honey colored wine. Some pineapple and exotic fruits mixed with the honey on the light-medium palate, but a slight soap character threw it off. Oxidization didn't help either but the wine was not completely ruined, and we consumed it over 2 nights. Nothing too exciting here... just not very deep or complex as a good QdC. Hoping for a better showing from other bottles.
