Cab Showdown: Michigan v West Coast (Chateau Vino Me): Pale color with a lingering mousse. Green apple notes dominate the bouquet. Fine bead with flavors of pear, cherry and biscuit. Finishes well with abundant ripe, slightly sweet fruit. Very different from the first two, but very enjoyable. (VM)

A founding member of the Club Tressors. This grower family has been making Champagne in Châtillion-sur-Marne since 1892. I previously had their 2004 Special Club and loved it. This wine is equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from the first pressing. Aged in large oak barrels and then in bottle on its lees for 7 years. 7g/l dosage. A full bodied Champagne with a lot of character. Sweeter than I normally like. Creamy texture and deep. Brioche notes with candied apples and white fruit. I drank this as an appertif but it would have been better with food. 90 points.

My 2nd bottle. This was not as sweet tasting as the first time I had it. Moderate bead. Lean with citrus and chalk notes. 91 points.
