Visiting Vancouver and the Willamette Valley; 8/26/2021-8/30/2021 (Vancouver, WA and the Willamette Valley, OR): This opaque ruby wine is a blend of 75% Petit Verdot and 12% Malbec, with the remainder comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Ripe and focused, it is a full-bodied, racy red with layers of dark plums, cassis, orange zest, baking spices and black olive tapenade. The tannins are plentiful but fine-grained, and the wine's alcohol (13.8%) and spicy oak are nicely integrated. Solid on the mid-palate and medium-to-long on the back end, this is surprisingly good for a wine that is dominated by a grape that is usually used for its color and tannic backbone. Drink now-2030.
