  • 2005 Burgundy (La Trompette, London): Dark, dense ruby. Nicely fragrant nose. Quite dark fruited and nicely spicy. Jammier on the nose. Red-fruited palate. Good acidity. Lots of grip in a light-handed way. A pleasing structure. Lightens up wi air too to show a nice minerality. ***1/2

  • Lots of VA on this bottle. I was wondering whether to give it a low score or just to note that it was flawed. In the end, it was difficult to drink that I settled for teh later. Nose was super shut, there were perfumy undertones of cherries, spice and a touch of mineral, but this was all very muted and overlaid with acetone notes. Palate was really tart, all sour cherries, more acetone and nail varnish remover, and super, super tightly wound. There was obviously some weight in there, but the wine was not giving anything but volatile acidity.

  • Off the wine list at borgata. dark ruby to the rim- nose of full, ripe pinot with some earth. The palate is very full with silky ripe tannins and then after about 1/2 hour of being open this shuts down hard. Hard. Nothing showing at all except the tannins.
