Apricot in colour. On the nose ripe peaches, vanilla, honey. Like a lushious dessert. A hint of rose, strawberry and red cassis. Wonderfully fragrant. On the palate red berries, lots of oak, rhubarb. Poignant acidity that balances the oak beautifully. Complex for a rosé, and with a rare body to go with it. This vintage is glorious!

If you tried this wine a year ago and found it disjointed, dominated by oak, less appealing than the ‘lesser’ Cuvée des Vignettes, my advice is try it again. Seriously.
The wine has evolved quite nicely in a year. The unusual cinnamon stick/ginger snap/graham cracker notes are gone; fresh fruit has taken their place. The too-oily texture, gone. What remains is everything you like about Clos Cibonne, with a bit more weight, texture, intensity and flor influence.
The color is a coppery salmon… like the dial of a watch I recently purchased in fact. The nose is ripe fruit… Charentais melon, fig, lychee. On the palate, it has some fat, but also very bright, spicy/citric acidity. A long and very appealing mixed fruit finish with a whack of crushed rocks reminiscent of good Chablis.
All told, this is Clos Cibonne kicked up a notch, and not in a heavy handed way. It just needed time; and likely will improve still more with more time in bottle. I’ll dip into my stash of it a year from now and see.

Copper-tinged pale gold/pink, citrus and floral fruity nose (grapefruit, melon, fig?), smooth, smooth, smooth and SO much more concentrated than the regular Clos Cibonne rose. As good at the end as at the beginning. Thi is the second bottle out of a case we purchased a year ago, and waiting a year has really paid off; I might not be able to wait another year to try the next one!

Likeable wine, better than the ’18 quite recently had, better balance (in terms of handling the alcohol) than the ’19 one year ago. Had this with a prawn smörgåstårta which worked great, probably even better than a bouillabaisse since there are no clashing spices other than dill.
