  • Dark red. Very ripe raspberry. Sweet, concentrated fruit in the palate. Full body, good acid, with a grip toward the end. Despite the easy attractiveness of this wine now, there is a power in reserve.

  • 2019: dark, tightly wound red berry fruit. Same flavour profile as 2018 but has a deeper core. Needs time to open and soften, though not hard today.

2018: like drinking candy- red fruit and vanilla. So fleshy and delicious right now, it shows such sweetness in the fruit. There is just a little tannin in the finish.

2017: similar to 2018, but lacking the intensity and showing a little wood influence. Some licorice and a mineral feeling on the finish. If you are looking for a burly, dark Beaune the closest you will come is the 2019, but even with that wine there is immediate pleasure

  • This wine has a very medicinal / caramelized sugar nose. Medium red, good acidity, a very vicious /extracted wine, great sweetness but at the back of the palate you can taste the bitterness from the tannins. The flavours or of dark fruit mostly cherry with a light earthiness.
The wine does mellow/soften over a few hours but still suggests this needs time in the bottle. Well made 1er Cru Beaune and will produce a wine with more complexity of flavours in a few more years.
I can see a similarity in style of wine making with Lescure,s top end Clos Vougeot

  • Les Tontons Trinqueurs Tasting (Meursault): Walk around tasting. Ripe and big while slightly burly, but actually quite elegant for this terroir so young, with near silky tannins. 89-90 point potential, 2024 forward.
