  • Catalan New World Wine Dinner (Catalan Tapas Bar (Cary NC)): 5th Wine served at the Cataan New World Wine Dinner, paired with an absolutely wonderful Anjou pear and green apple crisp topped with white raisins, some sugar cookie crumble, and drizzled with with a bourbon caramel sauce. The muscat was decent, not syrupy or cloying with flavors of raisins, walnuts and hints of vanilla and brown sugar, but not exciting and definitely not on the same quality level as the dessert. I ended up eating the crisp then drinking the muscat as we discussed how good the dessert was. If price and availability for a wine dinner weren't a concern, I would have liked to have paired this with an aged tawny port, but at least the muscat didn't distract from the overall enjoyment. B (85) on the pairing.
