Served this blind to my friends. They all guessed chardonnay from Jura, which I get; it really has some resemblance to Tissot’s chardonnays, particularly Rosé Massale.
Medium lemon in color. Sweet oaky nose of lemon and lime, some vanilla, underripe tropical fruit. Medium body and acidity.
A steal of a wine.

Wow, quite amazing Grillo. Bouquet of maritime salinity, crisp apples and some kiwi. A gripping mid palate and an overall good balance and quite some punch. Will be interesting to see the development of this wine.

100% Grillo, one of the primary grapes in fortified Marsala. Typically a fresh, light wine, Bartoli makes a more structured, complex version.
Fermented with indigenous yeasts at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Aged in neutral French barrels for 12 months with fine lees kept in suspension from battonage (stirring).
A creamy, rich wine but still good acid. Reminds me of more expensive Chardonnay. A couple days later, honey and white flower notes emerge.

Grillo aged in (partially new) oak. And that is exactly what it is. What I would like to extol here is its gastronomic versatility. It has the minerality to accompany (shell)fish, enough body to go with veal schnitzel, and it is perfect with hard cheeses on sourdough bread.
