Medium garnet, no sediment, currant and cherries on the nose. Medium gripping tannins, palate of blackberries and a slight vegetale back note, long finish. The fruit is definitely there, fairly dry and acidic. Further integration may occur. On point with steak.

Round, stewed, dark fruit, cedar, soft spices, a touch medicinal. Good weight, open knit, although not as refined or complex as the 2017 but a nice, entry-level Bordeaux nonetheless. Drink up.

Earth, and musty Earth at that. These grapes are grown in vineyards interspersed among meadows, ponds and forests. Nothing neat about it. And it seems as though all of these influences infiltrate the nose: it's hard for me to describe it, except as earthy with some bitter spice.
On the palate, it's mouthy: the sides and back of the tongue tingle, it disappears for a moment, and then infuses the whole mouth.
It's an everyday wine, a Merlot blend, and fairly priced at under $20 a bottle. Preferable, in my view, to much higher priced Californias. It teases the palate, interacts with it in an honest dialogue, rather than -- as with the California fruit bombs of today -- clubbing it into dazed confusion.
Nice to have wine, as opposed to fruit punch.
