This is my 5th Grand Reserva from this winery. This particular wine was created to celebrate the 75th birthday of the owner of this famous winery - Don Julio Faustino. The first edition came out in 2008 because Dom Julio was born in 1933. Someone would have thought that a great wine would be created for such a great occasion, but it's very good but not exceptional. On the other hand, the winery went in the right direction - it honored the owner of the winery in such a way that everyone can enjoy this wine because of low price. And the price is... right 24.45€ 👍🤠 In short - great value for money. How about the wine. It's mellow, it'smooth, it's soft, it's easy and it's done by the book. It's hard to find any faults, but also it's hard to be excited. Taste is mellow, soft and very juicy with perfect acidity and tannins. Red cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Pretty long finish with those red fruits. Smell? Red fruits too plus plum, black cherry and blackberry. That's all folks ... By the way the person on label is not from any famous or not so famous picture. The label on Faustino I Gran Reserva wines features a depiction of a person who is considered to be the embodiment of Faustino, the creator of this wine. It is a symbolic representation that represents the history and tradition of the Faustino brand.

Mature Rioja tasting: Med ruby. On the nose, this wine reveals an enticing bouquet of ripe blackberries, black cherries, and plum, with subtle hints of vanilla, cedar, and spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complex, with a velvety texture and silky tannins that complement the wine's rich fruit flavors. The flavors of dark fruit are beautifully balanced by the wine's pronounced acidity, which gives it a refreshing and lively finish. The extended ageing in oak barrels and bottle has given this wine an exceptional depth of flavor, making it a wine that will continue to develop with time. Can drink now - suitable for further aging. 90

Bright cherry red, upon opening ripe fruits with creamy aftertaste, 100% Tempranillo, aged 25 months in French/American oak, after breathing for 2.5 hours, perfumed nose, oak nose dissipated, full/medium bodied, good substance though still tannic

A little thin for my taste.
Will wait a couple of years before trying the next bottle.
