Two weeks in France; 4/12/2024-4/24/2024: Generously shared by Phil. Almost golden in colour. A round, rich old-school champagne that gained precision and tension with air. Superb aromatics, delicate red fruit on the palate in spite of its power. Very good.

Hervé Jestin was cellar master at Duval Leroy and Leclerc-Briant. This vintage represents the first of its new adventure as an independent house.

Beautiful intense nose of chalk and smoke.
The palate offers a juice of very good quality, lively, energetic and tense, so much so that 2009 does not come to mind. But on the other hand the use of wood was too pronounced and the aromas of smoke mask the undeniable organoleptic qualities of this wine a little too much. Beautiful finish on wet stone on a wooded length.
It would be excellent without this woody veil which interferes with the message of this wine.

Dark gold, almost Sauternes in color. Effervescent toasted apricot/apple nose. Very fine bubbles. Tastes of stone fruit and nuts. Yeasty…if that’s a word. As close to the taste of Krug as any champagne I’ve ever had.

Seidenweiche Briochearomatik, herrlich ausbalancierte Säure. Erinnert an Salzkaramel mit etwas Tabak. Ein ganz grosses Erlebnis. Zum Hummerschaum-Süppchen mit Hummerschwanz.
