As to be expected from a 2003, this was a very atypical Burgundy: medium to dark purple colour, a nose of cooked dark berries and wet stones. A medium body with port like flavours and nearly velvety tannins. All-in-all not bad, but it could have come from the Rhone.

This one is at the end of the trip... though not completely spent, the fruit is turning towards "cooked" with moderate spice and plummy notes coming through. The structure isn't holding up anymore. I hazard this wine was quite nice five or more years ago, but now it is more or less a sheel. I have enjoyed drinking this vintage, for all of it's success and disaster, but almost a decade later even the good ones are now turning.
