Dark ruby care that fades to a lighter crimson tone and then a watery edge. medium plus viscosity, Opaque with light sediment that was separated by decanting. On the nose this wine is showing its maturity with plum, fig, hoisin, spice, coffee and some savory herbs. The palate is flows nicely, with acidity that is still bright and alive, balanced against smooth medium tannins. The flavors are reminiscent of the old world, but still definitely new. Fig, black licorice, plum sauce, vanilla, wood, sweet tobacco, and chocolate. the finish is moderate and pleasing. This wine is likely in its prime right now.

Lots of dark fruit - blackberry and raspberry balanced with some slatey menthol coolness along with a little pepper. Well balanced, great winter food wine in a northern rhone style. Very good.

Staying on the "Rhone" theme, this bottle followed a 2003 Aussie Grenache that was quickly emptied by our guests. I scored this 1 point higher because it had a better nose, with some earth, smokey tones. Nice bottle.

Rhone style with earthy, dark fruit nose, plus present tannins throughout. Solid wine for the price.
