  • How is it possible that this stellar wine has been ignored all these years, that this is the first review? Seems to me this is worthy of a parade. I found a bottle in the cellar, forgotten. Stood it up. Forgot it again. Tried it with a friend. Both of us stunned. Grapes come from Bancroft Ranch, a vineyard on Howell Mountain. I've had older Beringer Bancroft Ranch Merlots --- all were initially stellar but too soon done in by age. This 2009 Cab was soft and round, yet structured, with moderate tannin and exceptional richness. My friend detected a hint of blueberries in the bouquet, which sounded as though the grapes came/ from the Maine woods. I wasn't surprised --- there is no end to the wonders of Howell Mountain wines.
