  • 4 hour decant. Wasn’t as tightly wound as I feared. While very enjoyable now, I’m looking forward to seeing how this evolves.

  • JinAronson's 2nd wine tonight. I liked it but not as much as others here at the table tonight. Feels a tad candied and average compared to the other wines tonight, Feels more grenache like rather than syrah. Similar in silkiness and taste profile to Andremily, which I also like but also has a bit of a manufactured feel to it, to me.

Nose of sweet confectioners sugar and florals. Palate displays a lot of barrel spice notes. 60% syrah with 3 other reds I think, including grenache. It's very well made and pleasurable. Just hard for me to rate it higher.

  • Absolutely a very good wine, but somehow this disappointied me a little tonight. Had this as a pop and pour (perhaps my mistake, although I am usually fine with my Saxum wines this way), and while I usually get enough Broken Stones to make this my every day Saxum, and the more Syrah based Saxon’s are usually my favorites, for some reason tonight I found this lacking in the usual wow factor for Saxum wines. Plenty of blue and black fruits, pretty smooth, but something just didn’t click with this tonight for me. Still very good, just not the great I am used to with Broken Stones. Maybe just a phase, or a bottle that was slightly off.

  • Thanksgiving 2023 (Dogwood Grove/Rock Spring, Virginia): Typical Saxum inky color and dense mouthfeel. Powerful. The most unctuous and concentrated wine in the lineup but somehow finesse overcame force tonight and this wasn't one of the favorites. It very plainly favored a blue fruit profile – blueberries, dark plum at the forefront (but I’m a red fruit guy …). Seemed like it had room to evolve as the flavors were perhaps a bit one-note at this stage.
