Brambly blueberry / blackberry on the nose. Very pure, concentrated fruit on the palate with nice juicy acids up front and coating tannins bringing up the rear. Won't be confused with a LdH or CVNE but I don't think it is trying to be that.

At this point in this wine's evolution it's showing a lot of red fruit up front but the blueberry is still back in there, just less pronounced. Same thing I've noted in the Twisted Oak "Potty Mouth", which probably shares some heritage with The Spaniard. Excellent concentration, spice, tart acidity, and soft tannins. Probably drinking about as well as it ever will, but still give it a little air before drinking.

I was expecting a bit more out of this, but found it to be a bit candied, almost sweet and on the simpler / one dimensional side... was missing something... haven't had it in a few years, but was not what I recall it being like... maybe an off bottle, but did not seem flawed.
