Drank on the first debate night to try and drown out the crosstalk. Also in solidarity with Napa wineries that were facing devastation in the fires. Either way, it was a transcendent celebration of all the best Napa flavors -- dark fruit, tobacco, cedar and plenty of acid, even for a 2003.

Nose is ok, plum, black cherry, hints of tobacco and red fruits. On the palate plum, cherry, currants. Really soft and short on the finish. Seems like the best days are behind this one. Drink.

Decanted for about 1 hr, served with grilled lamb, potatoes, and grilled veggies. Garnet color, lighter around the rim. Nose: blackberry, a little black licorice and some fig, maybe a little leather; taste: consistent with nose- dark fruit, blackberry, maybe a little black cherry, fig, a little pepper, nice integrated tannins, medium-long finish. Might need to open a little more, but pretty nice, drinking well now, glad we laid this down for a while.

Aged just a little too long. Very nice after being decanted for about an hour. Did not hold up as well as I thought it should have for the price

Not quite ready. Needed to use the Venturi to get it to open up some. Nice fruit then.
