My take on this wine is that it tastes like a low-end bottle of Bordeaux. It shows pungent white pepper and jalapeño rather than the interwoven eucalyptus flavor I associate with good Bordeaux. The fruit is generically plummy. I wonder how much of this is due to inferior characteristics of carménère and how much is due to inferior terroir and/or winemaking. My guess is it’s a mix of all of those things.
