straw colored and deliciously refreshing chard. slight oak and some honey on the nose and flavors of citrus/acid with a lingering mineral flavor. goof for fans of meursalt

On a recent business trip to Portland, the clerk in a small wine shop specializing in local small production wines touted this as perhaps the best Chardonnay in the state, noting the severe selection from only a single acre of vines. Having been moved recently by Domaine Serene's outstanding Cote Sud bottling, I was intrigued, particularly as this, at $26, was about $20 per bottle cheaper. And it is outstanding. A bit too cold at first, I got mostly oak. But, as it warmed, lovely juicy pear emerged, along with creamy vanilla and some tropical fruit. The oak --used, not new-- remained, but in better balance. And the finish lingered awhile, too. Not quite in the same league as the Cote Sud --or Domaine Drouhin's Arthur, for that matter-- but quite good, and good value. There's a lot of good Chardonnay coming from Oregon these days, I think. 90.

Too oaky and a bit flabby .. short finish. Did not really do it for me. Maybe my palate was off, since I did enjoy it a year ago

Pat Kerns Mini Tasting (My House): Nose: Fig and lime hints. Palate: Nicely balanced with the fig showing. Good domestic Chard.
