Bottle 1379g. Moderately intense aromas of black fruit, baked fruit, bright spicy note. Dry, with elevated acidity, moderate to elevated sandy and grippy tannins, full-bodied, 14.5°. Evokes a dry landscape. Lamb loin chops grilled with Moroccan spices are resting.

The way higher plots and all slate. The name refers to monasteries in the region. A little bit of barnyard to it. Fredrick notes it smells like Burgundy. A little hot this year but not as hot as '15. Everyone thinks '15 is the best but the winemaker prefers 2016. Smells mineral and slate-y to me. And in fact the most direct on the palate and focused so far. '16 months in new barrel but it holds it well. The important thing is fresh but not green. He is the opposite of Raoul, he prefers correct wine. Swirling opens it up. Some green fruit notes coming out.

Gorgeous wine. Interesting and fresh and punchy with spiciness. Gotta get some more!

Having it under Corvin for so long did not help it out.
