WhiskySomm comes into town pt. 2 (Carlton, OR): I poured off a glass earlier in the afternoon and didn't get to this until later in the night. The air helped a ton as this was perfumed and expressive, filling the glass with red cherries, red berries, raspberries, bright red fruits, rose petals, violets, crushed rocks, earth notes, licorice, leather, and some plum notes. The Full bodied feel is pure silky as it dances across the palate while the crisp, medium+ acidity is well-integrated along with silky, medium+ tannins. The nose and palate show off a lot of depth and style that plays into a purity to the red fruits while still possessing a savory side. This certainly will improve with some time, but this is a real sexy beast already!

Bright, translucent crimson. Wow - this is 'purity' taken to an extreme level! Stemmy and chewy, like a mouthful of barely-ripe raw barries (the vineyard is north-facing, apparently), and slightly funky. There's still quite a bit of tannin to contend with, too. Serious concentration and length. Did blossom and soften with air, but on balance more impressive than enjoyable right now (and forever?)...
