  • Dark fruits, cherry cola, and a nice dry finish. Not quite as good as I remember it from roughly a year ago, but still a nice Oregon pinot.

  • I tasted this as part of a mini horizontal of the producer's portfolio. I was a little underwhelmed by most of the offerings. The common thread across all the wines was that of a slightly over-extracted, over-manipulated style.

That being said, this was my favorite of the lineup. I felt like the rich black and blue fruits and the intrinsic spice in the Marine Sedimentary soil type lent itself well to his somewhat bombastic wine making.

The result was that this was the most supple and drinkable of the lot. But it still wasn't really to my personal liking. I could see lots of people enjoying this. Particularly folks who usually drink bigger Reds and are looking for a fat juicy Pinot Noir. But for me it was a little over the top and lacking subtlety and nuance. Lots of black fruit, Vanilla Spice, Cola, cinnamon, nutmeg, cake batter, powdered sugar. And of all the wines in the portfolio this one did seem to have the most undertones of complexities that emerged with a little breathing time. This one got a little more floral as time went on.

Overall, I would say a decent wine that simply isn't to my personal stylistic preference, and yet I would also say that it's overpriced for what it is.

  • Medium ruby/purple in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of spices, floral notes of violets & earthy/dusty notes, minerals & a slight touch of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, earthiness, minerals & a touch of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present although it does has the fruit & structure for further development with additional aging.
