Limited nose when opened: mild leather, not much fruit (red berry) but on the palette: wow! Sophisticated and a bit subtle but very well balanced. Typical zin fruit but in the background with round cherry and a bit of earth all in the mix. Hard to describe because it all balances so well. Sublime by itself and with beef short ribs. Probably a bit past its prime but still very, very good.

Dark ruby color. First taste was tight and fruit forward, but it opened up over time. Taste of prunes, tobacco, earth and tar. Well structured but high alcohol and always in your face.

Score withheld. Opened bottle and poured into decanter. Tried after 30 minutes and was dismayed--opened another bottle.
After about 3 hours in the decanter, and another bottle prior, this was actually thought to be much different than when initially tossed aside. Will try again in near future with full 3-4 hour decant for assessment.

15.5% alcohol. Purple color in the glass. clear hue throughout. Nose of currants, a bit of balsamic, boysenberry and latex paint. Flavors of berries, dried plums and white pepper sitting on top of...you guessed it...a very hot finish. Medium acidity, firm tannins, full body. Drink over the short to medium term. This wine is a hot, jumbled mess. Dumped after one sip. Do not put in mouth.

Rather dry, but flavorful zin. A little spice, mostly dried fruit.
