Big bomby fruit on the nose - blueberry, dried strawberry and grilled plum. Orangey edge and a bit of black pepper too. Big, bold flavours if not complexity.
Flavour concentration is high and the taste is fruit forward and easy drinking. Alcohol is pretty well integrated, though of course there is a bit of burning from the 15%. Structure is too loose for my taste - compared to the Aglianico I drank beside it, it was quite soupy from lack of tannin and acid, and some burning on the end from the alcohol. This is where the wine stumbles a bit, though when I had a small glass after dinner on its own, this was less noticeable.
Pretty classic structure and flavours for a Grenache, and for $20 you could do a lot worse. Think this would be a nice party wine or be very good for drinkers who like their wine fruit forward without tasting confected.
Most of the bottle is under Coravin pivot, will see tomorrow if this opens a bit more.
