Medium deposit. Light red. Lovely red fruits. Cranberry. Light to medium weight. Nebb tannic structure, though balanced. Beginning to lose its youthful fruit. Drink up.

Floral, elegant Nebbiolo. Almost like Beaujolais Villages is to Burgundy as this is to Barolo. The rose petals without the tar, if you like. This is lighter and more early drinking than their mainstream wine, the Valtellina Superiore. As Michael McNamara from Prince Wine Store (Melbourne, Vic) describes it: "The Valtellina Rosso Ole 2020 is the entry level DOC and is all about lightness, fragrance, pliancy and deliciousness. It's got all the Nebbiolo fragrance and flavours in an uncomplicated package. Fermented and aged in stainless steel for the most part. It's quaffable yes, but it's more than that." Opened a little austere but evolved over 30 minutes or so for the palate to match the prettiness of the nose. I will give it a year but not an ageing prospect. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

On the simple side, though clean, elegant and finishing with a lovely high-toned tartness. Not super exciting, but nonetheless soild.
