  • Now this is amazing. This Amarone when young was very "populistic". Dominating fruit, almost a hint of sweetness and distinct alcohol. Now after twelve year it has become a stringent, elegant and well balanced sophisticated Amarone. The fruit have lost its sweetness and is not as dominant. Tannins and acids still there and in excellent harmony with the rest. A very good Venetian representative in pair with friends costing 3-4 times more.

  • Decanted 1.5 hours. A deep, glossy violet colour. Powerful nose of black cherry, black plum, figs, and licquorice/aniseed. Quite a pure nose, with no obvious oak notes to overpower the fruit. Very promising. The palate is similar - a lovely inky swirl of black fruits, tar, figs. Notably velvety texture, silky even. This really coats the mouth, and the tannic spine is well concealed till the long, powerful finish. No heat or blowsiness, even though 15% alcohol. Not quite as dry/bitter as some other Amarones (although I wouldn't call it sweet) - a matter of taste whether you regard this as a plus or a minus. But really very well put together. Very good.

  • I would rate this a litte higher than the previous taster although he's spot on with cherries and chocolate. It's all held together with a good level of tannic grip and the sugar levels are nicely in balance. A decent finish rounds of a very drinkable Amarone.

  • Not what I expected. Smell with lots of dark and red cherries, chocolate, raisins. Taste with lots of fruits, dark cherries, chocolate, and sweet raisins. Meduim body, not like traditional amarone. 2003 wasn´t a good year but the wine was ok but a little too sweet in relation to acidity.
