  • this has more subtle than expected from CA syrah ... i have not tasted one of these for over 3 years ... it is drinking very well right now ... it's not too big, not too small - a Goldilocks thing i think ... :) drink up!

  • quality - Have not had this wine for a long time - and I am very impressed - the nose is fruity blackcurrant and black cherries - when you get the wine into your mouth you get a an elegancy a softness - medium tannins and acidity are very well integrated - a very expressive pallet where you apart from the fruit also get some vanilla and chocolate - a true great wine - good long lasting aftertaste

  • I drank this wine with a grilled steak, grilled zucchini, and roasted potatoes. The wine matched the food well and also went very nicely with a truffle cheese. On day 2, this went ok with seared tuna.

Right after popping the cork, this smelled like poop and tasted like molasses, but after a solid 2.5 hour decant, this wine really started to drink well. This tasted like blueberry/peach pie with just a hint of cinnamon, lots of chocolate, a strong but well integrated showing of vanilla and spicy oak, licorice, and especially on day 2, that nice Portuguese violet smell. This wine tasted, as is typical for many of these Portuguese wines, like a Washington St. wine – new world in style.

I was impressed for the $23 I payed for this bottle. It is probably worth $30-$40, but not the $50-$80 I have seen for in other stores.
