Don't you wish that every restaurant in American featured Vajra Langhe Rosso? Even at a posh place, you could drink it (for, say, $50) and be fully satisfied if not dazzled. At a pizza place it would totally do the trick. Ditto hamburger joints (if they had wine options that weren't produced in hundred thousand case volumes). I could drink it in a box, I could drink it with a fox. It's real wine. It has no discernable oak. Serve this at my funeral, since I won't be there to handle that myself.

We are long-time friends of Vajra Langhe Rosso, but this bottle was the best in some time. That happens. Where some Vajra Langhe can have a coarseness, this bottle is refined. On the nose there's an alluring aroma that can only be Nebbiolo or Pinot Noir. Ripe fruit, commercial tea, and the flavors of the farm. The taste is complete, without gaps. The sole drawback is knowing that future bottles will likely not be quite as good as this one. Perhaps it's worth giving these 8-12 months in the cellar?

Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, Albarossa, Freisa and Pinot Nero
Medium body, bright garnet colour. Intense red fruits, flowers and spices aroma. Wild strawberry and sour cherry palate following by refreshing and juicy finish. Fresh and vibrant, not so complex but well balanced and hedonistic, wild berries’ acidity and silky tannins. Food friendly, well pairing to gnocchi. Serve 16ºC - 20ºC. Open half hour ahead. Drink now while young and next three years.
