Notes after 2 hours open. Medium ruby color, about 60% opaque with a little sediment at the bottom. Profound nose of zippy red berries and chain oil. Light intensity flavors with very nice acidic drive, a little touch of tannins, and enough body to go down smoothly. Some garrigue and underbrush way in the background. I think more time to mature will be a bonus. 4+11+16+8= 89

I revisited this, though only a small pour at a gathering. This bottle seemed improved to me. It had 3-4 hours of air before I tasted it which may have helped. There was some lovely bright fruit; red plum and ripe currant with some underlying minerality and floral notes; the palate had much better balance with some fruit balancing the mineral/earth tones and the acidity more in line. It was pleasant and for the price certainly good. Will be interesting to see how the other 2 wines change.

This wine impresses me. While is is not subtle nor sensitive it is a lovely gamey gamay from one of my favorite parts of France. Bottles like this are more journeyman than high brow. I wonder if I were having it in a bistro in Tours or Angier with roasted chicken or hanger steak what my reaction would be. Well I think the balanced between fruit/tannin/acidity as well as the raspy, edgy palate (granular tannins) with slight chill would not only compliment the dinner but present the terroir of the Loire Valley in a positive light. Just right. It ties together place and food. It’s hard to describe the taste, but the character, the experience of the wine supersedes specific tasting notes . I couldn’t immediately identify gamay but after time that became evident. Wines like these illustrate how varied wine can be. This wine, to me, illustrates a Saturday night in October as the weather is changing with something thrown together on the stove. I had this pomedoro, polpettini, pappardelle parmigiano, parsley. It worked. Well. If you’re looking for numbers, not on this bottle, if your looking experience, you won’t be disappointed. I think 5 years max but drinking quite well now.

After reading the negative revies I was a little worried when I picked this bottle out of the cellar. I needn't have worried, I really enjoyed it. This was classic Loire red with more mineral than fruit. There was more than enough fruit to balance the mineral and light tannins. I am looking forward to my remaining bottle of this one.

Smoke and cranberry nose with chocolate, smoke, tart cherry and earth notes. A good, easy drinker slightly below cellar temps on really hot nights.
