I've been holding this for about a month, and some of the hop character has receeded. Now it's just straight roasted malt, coffee, and oat flavors. A strong example of what a porter ought to be, without going overboard. Looking forward to this year's 'vintage.'

Dark opaque brown with creamy tan head. Nose an herbal, baking spice note. Palate dark chocolate with crisp bitter hops. A pine cedary note. Some creamy depth as it warms. A bit harsh but would be good with a creamy dessert. 90 pts for now

47th edition. Honoring the Western Joshua Tree, Yucca brevifolia.
7% abv.
Opaque dark brown color. Nose coffee and chocolate. Palate great balance, some chocolate with a subtle hoppy finish, leavened by an almost seltzer-like brightness. An enjoyable rendition of this annual treat . 92 pts

Malt, coffee, chocolate. Drinking so well right now. One of the better Anchor Xmas beers I've had. Had with leftover apple pie and vanilla ice cream.
