  • Decant for 1 hr. Inviting aroma, slight earthiness. Full and rich in texture and is different from most of their cabs. More mineralie but still with a smooth long finish. Would guess it is good for another 10 years.

  • similar to my first bottle a few months back. gave this 3 hours of slow ox in the bottle before dinner. nice nose of blackberries, cassis and dark cherries. play to the black/blue end of the spectrum on the palate- more blackberries, dark cherries and cassis. Hint of chocolate, spice, finishes with good minerality. 100% cab, volcanic soil from a vineyard in Calistoga

  • Dark ruby fruit - currants, blackberry, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity but a lighter profile than expected after recently having the 2021 vintage - medium body. Like the 2021 vintage, fruit forward and fairly rich but I found it easier to drink due to the lighter profile. Nice rich flavors of cassis, some spice, and a little graphite component. Fairly long finish with just a touch of tartness - some bing cherry. Decanted for two hours and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time. Revisited on day two and I thought it was better as it softened/settled down a little more. 93 on day two. 100% cab.

  • my first Igneous. this is from more volcanic soils from the northeast end of Calistoga. 100% cabernet. This is a bit more mineral driven and less fruit driven than many Venge wines. A terrific balance between the dense black fruits - blackberry and currant jam, with notes of black cherries, anise, tapenade and crushed stone, intertwined. nice structure and acidity.

  • Similar to our bottle from 8 months ago which was a 93. Notes are all similar but I have to say the more air this wine gets the better it is. Enjoyed over 2-4 hours at the HMCs tonight.....91-92 early on but as it sat in the decanter it gained 2 points easily. More weight, depth and the fruit really settled in. Quite polished and soft, powdery tannins by the end. Hard to go wrong with this one, so long as you aren't expecting it to give you 98 points! It won't, but it's very good in the 93-94 point range with more airtime.
